the launch of the highly anticipated DIESEL’s Denim Atelier collection exclusively online in India. The Limited Edition Atelier Collection offers men highly distressed Italian hand-finished and handcrafted denims direct from the Diesel laboratory. Only three hundred pairs of these limited edition denims were produced worldwide with 11 premium denims to be sold in India. 7 pairs will be retailed exclusively online on Myntra.com at an all-inclusive price of Rs. 1 Lakh, starting 24th December 2014. The ripped jeans trend has been bouncing on and off the fashion scene for decades now, but the Diesel Atelier collection will see more rips than ever. These pair of over-washed jeans, scored and ripped all the way down the leg and then re-patched is for the true connoisseurs of daring and rugged denim attitude. Each pair is an exclusive and unique hand-made design.
Designed by the brand’s creative director Nicola Formichetti, each limited edition pair is created by an experienced Diesel team using specially crafted machines in Italy where designers are able to sculpt each pair of jeans into a unique work of art.
Fun-facts about DIESEL ATELIER COLLECTION: The Inception: DIESEL Denim Atelier Collection is 100% made in Italy, in-house by the Diesel design team. Experimentation in Diesel’s own laundries and workrooms results in the intricate process stages that amount to the world’s most artisanal denim product.
The Effort: A pair of DIESEL Denim Atelier takes Diesel’s denim engineers one day to produce, with availability restricted to a limited edition series of three hundred pairs worldwide.
The Process: Starting with the rough denim canvas, a first wash of colour is applied before extensive hand cutting shreds the denim. A second wash distresses the cuts, adding texture and filaments to the now-fraying edges that are then re-sewn by hand, with highly-resistant cotton, polyester and even gold lurex threads. A final wash adds new dimensions of wear and tear, before the denim is oven-dried and fixed.
The Result: The complex, textured finish of DIESEL Denim Atelier Collection is the most complete rendering of distressed denim in the world, realized in an artisanal studio by dedicated master craftspeople. The result surpasses its humble beginnings to become an exceptional garment and a wardrobe staple, to be worn from day to night paired with everything from a simple white tee to a tuxedo blazer with luxurious ease.
