Satya Nadella Commends Manipal Academy for Embracing AI in Education

Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO of Microsoft, has applauded the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) for equipping its 6,000 students with access to GitHub Copilot, an AI-powered coding assistant. Reflecting on his alma mater, the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Nadella shared his aspiration to revisit the institution, which he last visited in 1988.

Nadella made these remarks during his visit to India, where he engaged with representatives from the government’s eSanjeevani telemedicine initiative and the Agricultural Development Trust (ADT) in Baramati. These interactions showcased Microsoft’s commitment to empowering local institutions and demonstrated the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in driving innovation across sectors.

GitHub Copilot, a groundbreaking AI tool, enhances coding productivity and accuracy by assisting students and developers in writing better code. By integrating such cutting-edge technologies into education, MAHE is setting a benchmark for fostering the next generation of skilled developers and innovators.

Nadella’s recognition of MAHE’s progressive adoption of AI-powered tools highlights the increasing significance of technology in shaping future talent. His acknowledgment reflects the pivotal role educational institutions play in equipping students with advanced tools to navigate an evolving digital landscape.

This initiative not only empowers students with enhanced learning resources but also positions MAHE as a leader in embracing technology to nurture innovation and development. As Nadella revisits his roots in Manipal, his admiration for his alma mater underscores the importance of AI integration in education for building a future-ready workforce.
