DashrathManjhi or “Manjhi the Mountain Man” to whom Aamir Khan is dedicating the first episode of his TV series has another supporter who in fact has just completed a feature film on him and that is Aamir Khan’sfirst mentor Ketan Mehta. It’s a well known fact that Aamir Khan began his career with Ketan Mehta in his film “Holi”. Seems they both share similar commitments.
Ketan Mehta has just wrapped a film on the very same subject with NawazuddinSiddiqui playing the role of Manjhi – the man who broke the mountain for love. With Bollywood focusing so much on this inspirational man, hopefully the youth of our country will take a cue!
Those who have seen the film like Shekhar Kapoor, Tigmanshu Dhuliya & Prakash Jha are mighty impressed with it. They were overheard saying that “every young person has to see this film”
“It was one of the most difficult roles to essay. When Ketan Sir narrated the story to me, I was shocked to hear that one man, alone, without any help at all could break a mountain for love – even if it took him 22 years –It just shows what dedication and hard work can do”, said actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Ketan Mehta said that the moment he heard of the feat he just had to make the film. “We need hope in our cynical times and it’s time we saw the love story of the underdog as well- so far we have only seen love stories of the rich and the privileged- but this love story, it’s another thing altogether- it shows the power of true love and will inspire anyone”
The movie – which is an ode to the triumph of the human will, has been shot on actual locations in remote areas of Bihar.
