Acer is all set to re-enter Indian market with its new handset, dubbed as Acer Liquid Jade, priced within the range of around Rs 14,000 to Rs 16,000. The upcoming smartphone will mark the presence of Acer brand in India after several years. The device as of now is already available for pre-booking with some vendors in Delhi.
With a hope of reviving its smartphone business, the company has made changes to its go market reach by bypassing its healthy channel partners and decided to take online way for getting quicker reach to the market and gaining popularity of its smartphones.
“We have been present in the smartphone business for last two years, but it has been a slow start. With the change in Acer’s philosophy, we want to refocus on our phone business. As of now, we have two models to launch in the first phase. Having said so, we will be expanding to our product portfolio in February 2015,” said Sanjeev Mehtani, senior director-Sales, Acer India.
Acer being a leading PC vendor, it has been maintaining a low profile in the tablets and mobile business. But with the renewed focus, the company wants to leverage its IT strength for its mobile business as well. “We have been a successful computing player in IT arena for last 15 years, with the best of two worlds, we will integrate our mobile strategy,” he added.
Abhishek Passi, Vice President, Business Strategy, Snapdeal.com said, “Mobile and Tablets are one of the fastest growing segments for Snapdeal.com with customers becoming more feature and value conscious.
