BPO major Aegis inaugurated a new centre in Colombo, Sri Lanka, which will provide employment to 1,000 people in the next one year.
The centre, which has an initial capacity of 600 seats, will be expanded to 1,000 direct white collared jobs over the next one year.
Additionally, the centre will generate two to three times higher indirect employment, the company said in a statement.
“Aegis has been a pioneer in identifying its global delivery footprint, and that led us to expand our presence in Sri Lanka,” Aegis Global CEO Sandip Sen said.
Aegis Sri Lanka reinforces the strategy of providing customers the opportunity to tap a skilled talent market that is more aligned to their end user experience and life time value, he added.
The new facility will provide business process management and technology solution to the domestic Sri Lankan market across telecom, banking, financial services and insurance, retail, consumer, hospitality and technology verticals.
The Essar group firm had entered Sri Lanka in 2009 with acquisition of 80 per cent share of Ismart – Timex, which over the years has grown to over 350 professionals serving enterprises across Sri Lanka.
