Telecom service provider, Aircel is reportedly testing 4G services in the Andhra Pradesh circle. The service provider reportedly recently won the 4G spectrum rights in eight circles in India. In a report by The Mobile India, the website quoted Deepinder Tiwana, business head, Andhra Pradesh circle, as saying, “The trials are currently on but we don’t have the required ecosystem, including the 4G-enabled mobile handsets, to launch the services commercially.”
Further, Reliance is also reportedly testing the 4G spectrum in Andhra Pradesh right now. The company is expected to start 4G services by the end of the year. Apart from Andhra Pradesh, Aircel has won the rights for 4G spectrum in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir, North-East and Assam.
Indian smartphone makers have also been working on 4G enabled devices recently. While global companies like Samsung, Sony, Apple, HTC etc. already have devices in the Indian market that support 4G connectivity, local players like Micromax and Xolo have recently announced their intentions in this segment as well. Both Xolo and Micromax are expected to launch their 4G enabled devices quite soon.
