Alleged Moto ‘G6 Play’ shows up in leaked images, reveals design and size
Unlike what was widely rumoured, Lenovo’s sub-brand Moto didn’t show up at the recently-concluded Mobile World Congress 2018 (MWC 2018) conference. The firm was expected to launch the successors to the Moto G5 smartphone, tipped as Moto the ‘Moto G6’, based on the increasing number of leaks. Unfortunately, the smartphone never saw the light of the day but the leaks are still coming in. This time the alleged ‘Moto G6 Play’ has made its way on the web in the form of a couple of leaked images.
According to the leaked shots shared by Android Authority, the unannounced Moto G6 Play is seen sporting a Moto X4-like back panel made of glass and metal along with a designer circular rim enclosing the single rear camera and LED flash. Nothing much can be deciphered about the front-side though. The smartphone is said to feature a 5.7-inch screen with large bezels on top and bottom. There will also be a micro USB port instead of the Type-C port. The fingerprint sensor could be seen at the back below the rear camera setup.
Previous leaks have indicated the ‘G6 Play’ to come powered by a 4000mAh battery along with Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor and HD+ (1440×720 pixels). Running Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box, the smartphone may also feature 16MP rear camera and arrive in two variants based on 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage.
In January, Droid Life revealed the Moto smartphones that are scheduled to launch this year. The list included Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus, Moto G6 Play and Moto X5. Besides revealing the screen size, resolution and processor the report says that Dark Charcoal, Gold, and Deep Blue may be the colour variants of the G6 Play.
There is no word as to when Moto plans to launch the particular device.
