Amazon has rented 30,000 square feet of office space for its corporate headquarters in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex. It is planning to take up another 10,000 square feet space in the same building. However, Amazon’s sales & marketing, and regional seller services teams will be based out of the office. The Mumbai office will be facilitating seller services in the region as per sources emphasising that Bengaluru will remain to be the back end hub. Amazon was advised on the transaction by the US consultancy firm, JLL. Amazon is also on the look out for warehousing spaces. The past year, Amazon leased a 1.3-million square feet office deal in Bengaluru with IT park developer Bagmane at the developers’ business park which is by the city’s IT corridor of Outer Ring Road. The lease was done in three parts. Firstly, Amazon took about 300,000 sq ft of space. The balance demand for one million sq ft of office space was divided two equal parts and Amazon planned to take up one part over the next financial year.
