Amazon To Open Exclusive Diwali Store On US, UK Website
Amazon is all set to open a Diwali store on its US and UK website, a TOI report has said.
Both US and UK have a huge Indian diaspora residing in the respective countries. With the Diwali store, Amazon will give them an option to shop for Diwali. According to the report, Amazon.com expects huge demand from the Indian residents living in these countries.
Diwali decorative products like diyas, light lamps, greeting cards, stickers, and so on, are already available on both, the UK and the US websites.
Earlier this year, Amazon opened up the option for Indian sellers to export their products from the country. The report says that nearly 5,000 Indian sellers already on Amazon.in are expected to export products for the Diwali store for US and UK.
After making its mark in India, the report says that the company is now planning to make the country a big export hub for Amazon.
In line with the ‘Make in India’ campaign, earlier this year, Amazon launched a global Selling Program in India to enable sellers to export their products to its virtual stores around the world.
The programme let the sellers showcase products from home furnishing (including Indian handicrafts), jewellery, books, collectibles, sporting goods, handbags, shoes and health and beauty categories.
Selling on Amazon provides businesses of all sizes a international sales channel, with no product listing fees, no upfront costs of creating a website or setting up a physical store and secure payments infrastructure, the company had earlier said in a statement.
“Our Global Selling Program in India is designed to assist Indian manufacturers and businesses to grow their business by leveraging Amazon’s state-of-the-art technology, world class logistics infrastructure and customer service expertise,” said Amazon.
Amazon is also training Indian sellers to brush up their selling techniques ahead of the Black Friday and Christmas Shopping season in the US which amasses a huge audience each year. Black Friday, which comes on the fourth week of November, is one of the Amazon’s biggest sale days in the US.
