AMD has rolled out the latest update, AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 24.9.1, which brings several significant upgrades to enhance the gaming experience for Radeon users. The key highlight of this release is the official introduction of AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) 2, a groundbreaking frame generation technology aimed at improving performance and gameplay fluidity on Radeon graphics.
AFMF, a vital component of AMD Software, is designed to boost frame rates and overall gaming smoothness across a vast selection of games. It is part of AMD’s HYPR-RX feature, a one-click solution that optimizes both in-game and driver-level AMD technologies for better performance.
Key Updates in AFMF 2:
- AI-Driven Enhancements: AFMF 2 leverages AI to improve frame generation efficiency, resulting in smoother gaming, particularly during high-intensity action sequences.
- Broader Compatibility: AFMF 2 supports thousands of games and works on AMD Radeon™ RX 6000 and 7000 series graphics cards, along with AMD Ryzen™ Processors featuring RDNA™ 3 architecture-based integrated Radeon graphics. It’s also available on laptops equipped with Ryzen™ AI 9 HX 370 processors.
- Support for Vulkan and OpenGL: The update expands AFMF 2’s compatibility to include games running on both Vulkan® and OpenGL® platforms.
- Interoperability with Radeon™ Chill: AFMF 2 can be paired with Radeon™ Chill for low-latency frame capping, helping to prevent screen tearing when the frame rate exceeds the display’s refresh rate.
In addition, the update enhances HYPR-Tune support for titles like Black Myth: Wukong, Creatures of Ava, Frostpunk 2, and God of War Ragnarök, enabling AMD FSR 3 for optimal gaming performance.
The release also introduces Geometric Downscaling, which improves video playback by reducing visual artifacts in downscaled windows, delivering smoother and clearer visuals.
