Announcing Copilot+ Computers

At a special event on the new Microsoft campus, we introduced a revolutionary category of Windows PCs: Copilot+ PCs. These devices are the fastest and most intelligent Windows PCs ever built, featuring advanced AI capabilities and powerful new silicon capable of over 40 TOPS (trillion operations per second). With all-day battery life and access to the most advanced AI models, Copilot+ PCs offer unique functionalities that are not available on any other PC.

Key features of Copilot+ PCs include Recall, which helps users find and remember content on their PC, Cocreator, which allows for near real-time AI image generation and refinement directly on the device, and Live Captions, which translates audio from over 40 languages into English in real-time. These capabilities are brought to life on sleek, lightweight devices from Microsoft Surface and partners like Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung. Pre-orders start today, with availability beginning on June 18, and prices starting at $999.

The launch of Copilot+ PCs marks a significant advancement in AI innovation on the device, building on the progress seen in AI capabilities in the cloud. This new wave of PCs integrates a high-performance Neural Processing Unit (NPU) with the CPU and GPU, creating a powerful system architecture. Enhanced by large language models (LLMs) running in the Azure Cloud and small language models (SLMs) locally, these PCs deliver unprecedented performance, up to 20 times more powerful and 100 times more efficient for AI workloads than previous models. They also outperform Apple’s MacBook Air 15” by up to 58% in sustained multithreaded performance, while offering up to 22 hours of local video playback or 15 hours of web browsing on a single charge.

Windows on Copilot+ PCs boasts the best implementation of apps on the fastest chips, starting with Qualcomm. The ecosystem now includes native Arm64 experiences for Microsoft 365 apps and popular third-party apps like Chrome, Spotify, Zoom, and more, with 87% of total app usage being native Arm versions. A powerful new emulator, Prism, ensures great performance for both native and emulated apps.

Security is a top priority for Copilot+ PCs, with each device featuring the Microsoft Pluton Security processor enabled by default. Windows 11 introduces new features and updates to enhance security, along with personalized privacy controls. Powerful processors and state-of-the-art AI models unlock new experiences, such as Recall, which provides intuitive access to previously viewed content on your PC. All information is stored locally, ensuring privacy and control.

Creative applications like Paint and Photos benefit from the powerful NPUs and local small language models, enabling innovative features like Cocreator for real-time image generation. Adobe’s flagship apps, including Photoshop and Lightroom, are optimized for Copilot+ PCs, and other creative tools like DaVinci Resolve Studio and CapCut leverage NPU-accelerated features for enhanced performance.

Copilot+ PCs also enhance global connectivity with features like Live Captions for real-time translation of audio into English, making content more accessible. Quick Settings offers controls for visual and audio enhancements, ensuring users always look and sound their best.

Each Copilot+ PC comes with a dedicated Copilot key, providing access to advanced AI models and natural voice conversations. Microsoft’s commitment to ethical, safe, and secure AI development is evident in these new experiences.

Partners like Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung are launching Copilot+ PCs with Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus processors, delivering leading performance and battery efficiency. Future collaborations with Intel and AMD will further expand the Copilot+ PC lineup, bringing advanced AI capabilities to a broader audience, including gamers and creators.

Copilot+ PCs represent a significant leap in AI innovation, combining cloud and device capabilities to offer the richest AI experiences. This launch sets the stage for the next decade of Windows innovation, ensuring that the PC remains a powerful tool for productivity, creativity, and collaboration.
