API will be available through Apple’s Map Kit Framework
Apple product users will soon be able to use map-based addresses now enjoyed only by Google map users.
Apple on Wednesday announced introduction of new search API that allows developers to offer map-based addresses (location) and points of interest (POI) through Apple’s maps servers, within their own apps.
The API is available through Apple’s Map Kit Framework.
Apart from Google, map providers like OpenStreetMaps and Foursquare also offer similar APIs.
Apple’s latest move to offer APIs to developers is seen move to facilitate speedy develop the Apple’s own mapping software and prevent developers from looking into other options while building apps for the platform.
