IT Voice News: Apple, on Thursday, announced the launch of iPad Air 2, touted to be ‘Thinnest Tablet’ from the house of the Cupertino giant. The company has not yet revealed the exact date of availability but it has disclosed the amount that customers will have to shell out of their pockets to get the new iPad Air 2. The iPad Air 2 is available in three colour variants including, silver, space grey, and a new gold.
Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, said during the launch that, “iPad is a magical piece of glass that runs more than 675,000 apps specifically designed for it, and is thin and light enough that you can comfortably hold it all day. The new iPad Air 2 is packed with amazing new innovations, weighs less than a pound, and at just 6.1 mm is the thinnest tablet in the world”
The India pricing of the iPad Air 2 has been revealed. The 16GB, 64GB and 128GB variants of iPad Air 2 (with Wi-Fi) will be priced at Rs 35,900, Rs 42,900 and Rs 49,900, respectively. Whereas iPad Air 2 with Wi-Fi + Cellular will be available for Rs 45,900 (16GB), Rs 52,900 (64GB) and Rs 59,900 (128GB).
The iPad Air 2, which weighs almost 437 grams, is just 6.1 mm thin. It is powered by the new Apple-designed A8X chip, which has been designed to deliver 40 percent improvement in CPU performance and 2.5 times better graphics performance than the previous iPad Air.
To go further with the detailed features description of new iPad Air 2, it supports improved 8MP rear camera and supports better connectivity with 802.11ac Wi-Fi along with Multiple-In-Multiple-Out (MIMO) technology. iPad Air 2 supports iOS 8.1 including Continuity features across iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, enabling Apple products to work together flawlessly.
iPad Air 2 will be up for pre-orders in 29 countries across the world from today onwards. The availability in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China (Wi-Fi models only), Czech Republic, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Portugal, Macau (Wi-Fi models only), Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and the US will commence later next week.
However, Apple has still kept the availability details under wraps, but disclosing the price of the iPad 2 in India hints that India will be one of the first markets to get iPad Air 2 within this month.
