Recent information, though, suggests that this perception may not be entirely accurate. It turns out that Apple is actively seeking talent in the field of generative AI.
While it’s impossible to definitively predict a company’s future plans, certain indicators can provide insights. In the case of Apple, these indicators come from its job listings. The tech giant has recently posted numerous job ads specifically focused on generative AI, an area that seemed less prominent in its plans previously. Notably, these job openings are not restricted to the United States but are also being offered in Europe and Asia.
One such job posting emphasized, “We are searching for a candidate with a demonstrated history in applied machine learning research. Responsibilities for this role encompass training large-scale language and multimodal models on distributed platforms, efficient deployment of compact neural architectures like transformers on devices, and developing personalized user-centric policies while maintaining privacy.”
While detailed information about Apple’s exact AI strategy is lacking, there are indications that the company might leverage this technology to enhance the capabilities of Siri. Although AI chatbots are prevalent in the market, none have incorporated voice assistant functionalities. If Apple manages to develop and implement this technology ahead of its competitors, it could elevate its already superior voice assistant experience to an entirely new level.
