As per recent reports, the Google Pixel may receive an OTA update enabling 5G support in India in Q1 2023

India received 5G connectivity in October of this year. Following that, Google announced that it was collaborating with Indian telecom service providers to release an upgrade that would enable 5G connectivity on its Pixel handsets soon. The business has not yet provided a date by which its Pixel devices would enable 5G in the nation. Finally, the business has provided an explanation for the rollout of the 5G update in India. Google confirmed that it will release the upgrade that will enable 5G connectivity for Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones in India in the first quarter of 2023 in an email answer to CNBCTV18.com.

A Google spokeswoman told the publication, “We have been actively working with Indian carriers on the numerous needs that go into provisioning 5G and look forward to putting out 5G for Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, and Pixel 6a in Q1 2023.”

The update enabling 5G connectivity on the Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones will release some time between January 2023 and March 2023, according to the firm, which did not provide a more precise release date.

It’s important to note that Google is one of the few businesses left that hasn’t launched support for 5G connection in India. On their 5G-enabled smartphones, brands like Samsung, OnePlus, Oppo, and Vivo have already made 5G networking capabilities available in India. More recently, Apple released an over-the-air (OTA) update for the iPhone 12 series, iPhone 13 series, iPhone 14 series, and the iPhone SE 2022 that enabled 5G connectivity.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra 5G, Xiaomi 12 Pro 5G, Xiaomi 11T series, Xiaomi 11i series, and Xiaomi Mi 11X series, among other 5G devices, will be able to support Jio’s standalone 5G network thanks to a cooperation the company announced earlier this week with Reliance Industries.

For the uninitiated, Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel are currently the two Indian telecom service providers rolling out support for their 5G network in towns and cities all throughout the nation. The two telecom service providers have currently launched their 5G services in more than 60 cities across the nation.
