ASUS Republic of Gamers Showcases Ultimate Gaming Experience at Gamescom 2018
ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced three gaming graphics cards: the ROG Strix, ASUS Dual and ASUS Turbo versions of the brand-new NVIDIA GeForce® RTX 2080 Ti and 2080 GPUs at Gamescom 2018. It also introduced the Zephyrus S, ROG Strix SCAR II, and ASUS TUF Gaming FX505 and FX705 gaming laptops.
In its biggest-ever presence at the European gaming exhibition, ROG is hosting a booth in Hall 7 with multiple demo areas showcasing a superior lineup of gaming products, including the ROG Swift PG65UQ and PG27UQ 4K HDR gaming monitors, ROG Ryujin and Ryuo AIO CPU coolers, ROG Thor 1200W Platinum power supply, ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 tri-band 802.11ax router, ROG Delta gaming headset, ROG Gladius II Wireless gaming mouse, and ROG Balteus Qi wireless charging gaming mouse pad.
ROG has also collaborated with seven major game-title publishers — Koch Media/Deep Silver, Activision, Bethesda, Kalypso, THQ Nordic and 1C Company — to display over 3000 ASUS and ROG products at Gamescom. These products include 800 Powered-by-ASUS PCs built by BoostBox with ROG Strix or ASUS TUF Gaming motherboards and over 2500 ROG products, including motherboards, graphic cards, monitors, routers, laptops, desktops and peripherals[1]. ROG will be hosting a week of exciting events at its booth, including product and partner announcements, live game competitions, and esports tryouts and selection for the Join the Republic Community Challenge’s German team.
“ROG is completely ramped-up for this year’s Gamescom with a full set of incredible gaming devices that play the latest and greatest game titles in never-before-had experiences,” said Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Worldwide Sales for the ASUS Open Platform Business Group Jackie Hsu. “Our gaming devices have always been designed for every player’s needs, and we brought our best to Gamescom to give gamers in attendance the first look at what’s new from ROG.”
New graphics cards and gaming laptops
ROG followed the NVIDIA GeForce Gaming Celebration event with a huge announcement of new GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and 2080 graphics cards, including the ROG Strix, ASUS Dual, and ASUS Turbo series. Each series meets the needs of different types of gamers with updated designs and new cooling technologies.
Strix GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and 2080 keep the new Turing™ architecture cool with brand-new Axial-tech fans that implement the latest ROG innovations. The size of the fan hub has been reduced to allow for longer blades, and a barrier ring increases structural integrity and downward air pressure through the Strix GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and 2080 heatsink array. The new design allows Axial-tech fans to shift more air and spin at higher speeds without increasing noise levels.
All Strix graphics cards are produced using Auto-Extreme Technology, an automated manufacturing process that sets new standards in the industry. Traditionally, soldering of through-hole and surface-mounted components needs to be performed in separate stages. Auto-Extreme Technology allows all soldering to be completed in a single pass, reducing thermal strain on components and avoiding the use of harsh cleaning chemicals. The end result is less environmental impact, lower manufacturing power consumption, and a more reliable product.
The latest Strix cards adopt a 2.7-slot footprint to accommodate a larger heatsink because bigger is better. The overall surface area of the cooling array is 20% larger for the Strix cards compared to previous-generation designs. The improved heat dissipation provides more overclocking headroom for enthusiasts and an amazing plug-and-play experience by allowing lower fan speeds while gaming.
As part of the first day of activities, ROG also announced four new gaming laptops: Zephyrus S, Strix SCAR II, and ASUS TUF Gaming FX505 and FX705. Zephyrus S features an even slimmer design than Zephyrus M, super-narrow bezels and the Intel® Core™ i7-8750H CPU and up to NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1070 with Max-Q Design GPU. Strix SCAR II is the world’s most compact 17.3-inch laptop with a width less than 40cm and an ultrafast super-narrow-bezel display that delivers a 144Hz refresh rate and 3ms response time. FX505 and FX705 are the first 15- and 17-inch TUF Gaming laptops to come with NanoEdge FHD IPS-level displays. The all-new products are on display at the ROG booth in Gamescom, Hall 7 on August 21–25 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday).
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 first look on custom ROG PCs
Attendees at Gamescom 2018 will be able to get a first look and play Call of Duty®: Black Ops 4 for PC only at the ROG booth running smoothly on the latest ROG gear, including Powered-by-ASUS gaming PCs built by BoostBoxx. These custom systems feature the latest ROG components, including Strix Z370-F Gaming motherboards, Strix 1080Ti graphic cards, ROG PG 258Q monitors, Strix Flare keyboards, Gladius II Origin mice and Strix Fusion 500 headsets. Activision selected ROG to be the only gaming brand at this year’s largest gaming event in Europe able to demo the new game title set to release in October.
ROG events at Gamescom
ROG has a packed schedule of events throughout the week at its exciting product demo areas, highlighting the latest in ROG and ASUS TUF innovation and demonstrating unique product features related to esports, performance and user preferences. ROG Germany has teamed up with TeamSpeak, a superior voice-over-IP (VoIP) communication system for online gaming and is demoing their latest headset technology in two VR scenarios for visitors to experience. As part of the worldwide Join the Republic: Community Challenge campaign, ROG Germany will invite its team leader, Nookyyy, to host live auditions on-site and select gamers to join the German team to advance within the JTR:CC[2].
ROG is also holding many other live onstage gaming competitions throughout the week, including 5v5 battle sessions playing Arena of Valor on the recently launched ROG Phone. Arena of Valor from Tencent is the most popular mobile game in the world. Free to download, the game features an exciting and extensive champion roster and lets anyone enjoy 10–15-minute rounds of 5v5 action whenever their schedule allows. ROG and Tencent have been collaborating together on customizing and upgrading the ROG Phone with a 90Hz screen refresh-rate, high-frame-rate performance and optimized graphics to deliver the ultimate Arena of Valor experience. Arena of Valor Marketing Director Vincent Gao highlighted the benefits of this cooperation at Gamescom and hosted a community challenge that included creating teams from the audience and inviting them onstage to play Arena of Valor on the ROG Phone and compete for prizes.
