ASUSTek Computer Inc. of Taiwan has been ranked as the world’s fourth largest vendor in Q4 2012, by International Data Corp. (IDC), a market information advisory firm.
According to IDC, ASUSTek shipped 3.1 million tablets in the fourth quarter, which is a 402.3% year-on-year increase from 600,000 units, and acquired a 5.8% share of the global market. They added that the Nexus 7 tablet, which is co-branded by ASUSTek and Google last year, pushed the company’s shipments sharply higher in the last three months of last year.
Apple Inc., Samsung, Amazin.com Inc. and Barnes & Noble Inc. are the other companies making it to the list of top 5 Tablet vendors published by IDC. Global tablet shipments reached a total of 52.5 million units, growth of 75.3 percent from a year earlier, according to the IDC report.
