Brocade Extends Technology Leadership With Two Industry luminaries
Hadi Nahari Joins Brocade as Vice President and Security CTO; David Meyer Promoted to Brocade Fellow
Brocade today announced the appointment of Hadi Nahari as vice president and security chief technology officer (CTO) and the promotion of David Meyer to Brocade Fellow. These two appointments will help Brocade extend its vision in key technology areas such as security and machine learning.
“Hadi Nahari and Dave Meyer are shining examples of Brocade attracting the best technologists in the industry,” said Ken Cheng, CTO and senior vice president of Corporate Development and Emerging Business at Brocade. “Hadi and Dave each bring a wealth of knowledge and experience across many different technology sectors, including mobile, machine learning, massively scalable systems, and security. They have an intense passion to deliver innovative products that benefit our customers’ businesses. Hadi will drive Brocade’s product security strategy and innovation while Dave will focus on a wide variety of emerging technologies, including machine learning research and development.”
Nahari brings over 20 years of technology experience and a passion for innovation in security and Trusted Computing. Prior to joining Brocade, he was chief security architect of mobile and software platforms at NVIDIA where he initiated Trusted Little Kernel, the foundation for Android Trusty. He has held principal security architect roles at PayPal, MontaVista Software, Motorola, NetScape and the U.S. Government. Nahari holds 13 patents — 11 in the U.S. and two in the European Union. In his new role at Brocade, Nahari will be responsible for Brocade’s product security strategy, architecture, and portfolio, as well as building the company’s security ecosystem.
“Cybersecurity is becoming one of the top concerns of our enterprise and service provider customers, and we’re excited to have Hadi join us to deliver a pervasive product security architecture that extends beyond traditional perimeter-based defense,” added Cheng.
Since joining Brocade in 2012 as chief scientist and service provider CTO, Meyer has become the company authority on external technologies and industry direction. He is the co-inventor of the Locator/ID Separation Protocol (LISP) and a much sought-after advisor in the industry. In addition, he is the founding chair of the OpenDaylight Technical Steering Committee, the founding co-chair of the Open Networking Foundation Forward Abstractions Working Group, as well as the founding chair of the Internet Research Task Force’s Software-Defined Networking Research Group. Prior to joining Brocade, Meyer spent 12 years at Cisco Systems as a distinguished engineer.
“The role of Fellow is a rarely conferred honor that acknowledges Dave’s outstanding contributions throughout his career, significant achievements at Brocade, long-term vision, and his dedicated efforts on behalf of the industry,” said Cheng. “We look forward to leveraging his contributions in the area of machine learning to help our customers and the industry address new challenges.”
