CBEC Takes Varied Measures For Ease Of Business In India

The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) has taken numerous measures in the last one year to improve doing ease of business in the country. Some of the key CBECmeasures taken by CBEC include 24×7 customs clearance. This will ensure that there will be less delay in clearance of imported and export goods which earlier used to take many days. Moreover the government has also introduced the use of digital signature when it comes to any documentation for exporters, importers, airlines, shipping lines etc. This move will ensure data integrity and reduce cost of compliance.

The government in the last one year has also reduced reduction in mandatory documents for imports and exports and it has also set up a Customs Clearance Facilitation Committee (CCFC ) to benefit all the parties. The CCFC is mandated to focus primarily on ensuring and monitoring expeditious clearance of EXIM goods in accordance with the timeline specified by the parent ministry/department concerned.

In terms of central excise the government has ensured that there is reduction in number of levies and registration time will be in only two days. There are numerous other measures which is taken by the CBEC to ensure that those who wants to do business in this country doesn’t face unnecessary hurdles. The CBEC has also taken suggestions from the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council who had raised numerous issues based by the companies who were either doing business or are about to open them.

One of the important decision taken by the CBEC include goods manufactured domestically and supplied against international competitive bidding are exempt from excise duty, if such goods when imported attract nil customs duties.
