At a time when the world’s best known smartphone maker, Apple is facing the heat from increasing competition coming its way from Samsung, rumors of an affordable iPhone got credence with the leak of pictures of the new phone from the Cupertino giant.
The news was broken by Taiwan-based Apple-daily, which says that the new iPhone will be launched in five colours that are Red, Yellow, White, Blue and Green. The phone, however, will be made of plastic and will resemble the existing iPhone 5 in design and size.
The report from Apple Daily not only sheds light on low cost iPhone, but also give a rare glimpse at iPhone 5S. The handset more or less looks like the current generation iPhone 5. The design will remain unchanged and tech industry will also notice same aluminum frame and use of metallic materials in manufacturing next gen iPhone.
While rumours had earlier indicated that iPhone 5S could come with a large display, the images that have been leaked show that the next iPhone will continue to have a 10.2-cm (4-inch) display. Other points that have come to light include the fact that the screen panel will be supplied by Sharp. Also, the cheaper cousin will share its resolution with its more expensive cousin at 1136 x 640 pixels at 326 ppi. The phone is also said to have A7x chipset, 2GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB/64GB of nonexpendable storage, a 12-mega pixel camera with refreshed camera UI and 4G LTE- connectivity.
More importantly, for Apple, these would give it a fighting chance against Samsung, the world’s leading handset manufacturer, which has thus far beaten Apple by far in sheer volume terms given the range and scope of its devices.
