Nisha Harshwal:-What is the plan for the Pune office in India?
Mr.Rakesh Bangera :-Cohesity is significantly expanding its presence in Pune, both in terms of real estate footprint and headcount. Our new location is 16,500 square feet which is five times larger than the size of our previous offices. We plan to hire approximately 100 employees over the next 18 months, joining the 64 employees we currently have in Pune today. We are making a long-term commitment to Pune and are excited about our growth plans in this market.
Nisha Harshwal:-Please name some Indian customers of Cohesity’s clients
Mr.Rakesh Bangera :-Unfortunately, we are unable to share customer names in India due to confidentiality clauses. However, we can tell you that we are representing customers across a wide range of verticals in India and globally today. Globally, the top-five fastest growing verticals embracing Cohesity’s data management solutions are financial services, public sector, technology, professional services (including consulting and legal), and healthcare.
Nisha Harshwal:-What is the Pune office’s role in the larger Cohesity landscape – Why the need to set up such a facility in Pune?
Mr.Rakesh Bangera :-Pune is a key product development centre for Cohesity. Employees in this facility will develop the next wave of Cohesity’s leading software-defined data management solutions for customers, focused on backing up, managing, protecting, storing, and extracting value from their data.
Pune is a centre of excellence for talent focused on data management. There is a deep pool of people in the city with strong backgrounds in backup, storage and other data management related areas. It makes sense for Cohesity to expand our product development centre at a location where we can take advantage of this strong talent pool.
Nisha Harshwal:-Can you share Cohesity’s market share in India and across the region as well as globally?
Mr.Rakesh Bangera :-While we don’t break out market share numbers per country or region, we can say that we believe the total addressable data management market for Cohesity is $60 billion globally. That said, we are delighted with our progress globally as organizations are recognizing the value of Cohesity’s modern, software-defined data management platform.
Nisha Harshwal:-Can you describe the start-up challenges that Cohesity has overcome to get to this position?
Mr.Rakesh Bangera :-To be successful, many enterprise-focused start-ups have to disrupt or redefine the way processes are implemented to help organizations solve some of their biggest business challenges.
That’s precisely what Cohesity is doing today. Within the data management space, there has been little true innovation in decades.
Cohesity is redefining data management with software (versus pricey legacy hardware) that enables organizations to back up, manage, protect, store, and extract value from data – all on one platform. Our development site in Pune will help ensure Cohesity continues to lead the way in data management innovation.
Start-ups must also hire the right talent and create a culture that not only enables employees to bring their best selves to work, but shapes their actions, decisions, and interactions with one another.
Nisha Harshwal:-What are some of the key issues’ companies in India (or the world) face with regards to back up data?
Mr.Rakesh Bangera :-
-
Many organizations in India and around the world simply treat backup data as an insurance policy. However, we believe companies should be able to do much more with their data.
-
Cohesity is the only solution built with a hyperconverged, scale-out platform (Cohesity DataPlatform) that converges backup, files, dev/test and analytics.
-
Designed with Google-like principles, it delivers true global deduplication and impressive storage efficiency that spans edge to core to the public cloud.
-
Cohesity enables IT to do more with their data, such as detect ransomware attacks, search for potential compliance violations, and run analytics to extract unique insights by running apps on the same platform.
Nisha Harshwal:-Technology issues – how Cohesity is solving the data management problem?
Mr.Rakesh Bangera :-Data volumes continue to grow exponentially. At the same time, companies are struggling to make sure that data – often stored in the cloud — is backed up, protected, secure, and in compliance with government regulations.
Cohesity is fully committed to enabling customers to back up, manage, protect and extract value from their data – wherever that data resides – whether it’s on-premises, in the cloud, at the edge, or all three.
-
Today, we have partnerships and integrations with a host of leading public cloud providers including AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
-
And, with respect to the cloud, Cohesity is making it incredibly simple and formulaic for enterprises to move workloads systematically between on-premises data centers and the public cloud – a critical need as more and more organizations rely on the cloud for everything from dev/test to security to disaster recovery.
