As part of this agreement, Danfoss India and NPC will collaborate to perform energy audits, develop course curriculums and jointly train professionals in the area of energy efficiency over the next 3 years
Continuing its effort towards skilling India, Danfoss Industries, a leading player in the climate and energy space, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with National Productivity Council, Government of India (NPC) to leverage common facilities for training in the area of energy efficiency, work towards improving the course modules and further on energy audit support on a case to case basis.
NPC and Danfoss India have been working together in the areas of improving energy efficiency and have in the past worked together in preparing the energy efficiency curriculum for Energy Auditors and have worked together in training/skill development of trainees from public sector under takings. In the wake of India’s commitment to UN towards achieving climate justice by lowering carbon emissions, it is pertinent that its ambitious development oriented intiatives such as Smart cities and Make in India are backed by technically sound skilled workforce who are trained to do more with less- in effect be more efficient in their resource utilisation that can ensure progressive development that is also sustainable.
As per this agreement, NPC and Danfoss India will utilize the training facilities for developing practical and theoretical training in the field of improving energy efficiency. The Energy efficiency modules will be specifically designed towards but not limited to Refrigeration, Air conditioning, industries covered under PAT modules of Bureau of Energy Efficiency etc. Moreover, the MoU will enable both signatories to share experiences and relevant information on energy efficiency and ways to implement them across sectors specifically focusing on RAC and other energy consuming divisions in energy intensive industries.
“Danfoss is dedicated to solving India’s energy conundrum through industry collaborations and energy efficient solutions and this partnership is testament of that. A recent industry report suggests that basis the current consumption pattern the energy demand from Industries in India is expected to grow to about 5397 TWh/yr by 2027. However, if industries can further strengthen their approach towards energy efficiency, we can expect the demand to reduce to 5143 TWh/yr which is reduction of 254 TWh/yr -equivalent to approximately 42333 Million dollars. Therefore, the opportunities that energy efficiency hold for securing the country’s energy demands are immense. While the MoU with NPC will further our skill development goals in the industry, it will also be an effective roadmap in assessing the country’s progression towards achieving its millennial development goals in a sustainable manner.” said Mr. Ravichandran Purushothaman, President, Danfoss India.
This Collaboration comes at a time when more than 54 percent of the country’s population is below the age of 25 allowing it with an opportunity to provide a skilled workforce to fill the expected shortfall in the ageing developed world. While the nation has awakened to the need for skill development and the Government has launched the National Skill Development Mission which aims at training more than 40 crore people by 2022, the focus on employability should be supplemented with efforts to sensitise the beneficiaries towards adoption of technology, operations and business practices that can not only boost their productivity but also ensure optimal resource utilisation with minimum wastage and ensure maximum profitability.
Commenting on the partnership, Shri Harbhajan Singh, Director General NPC (IAS) said “We are glad to enter into this partnership with Danfoss, one of the leading players in Energy efficiency globally. At NPC, it has been our endeavour to ensure that the training modules we administer to various influential industry stakeholders are updated with the latest curriculum that encourage productivity through global technology adoption and its efficient application thereby imparting intelligent skilling. Being mutual knowledge partners, NPC and Danfoss India will collaborate with an integrated approach for developing skilled workforce in India through curriculum development, demand driven course development and development of teaching methodologies and training/capacity building.”
