Discussion on IT Sector Development in Rajasthan – Emphasis on IT Clusters and New Policies

In a significant initiative to propel Rajasthan’s IT industry to new heights, IT Voice and the Rajasthan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) jointly organized a special meeting. The event took place at the Rajasthan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ajmeri Gate, M.I. Road, Jaipur, bringing together key industry leaders and organizations from the IT sector.

Objective of the Event

The primary objective of the meeting was to propose recommendations for Rajasthan’s upcoming 2025–26 budget and deliberate on strategies to strengthen the IT sector. The discussion focused on addressing key challenges and potential solutions for IT industry growth in the state.

Key Discussions and Recommendations

Prioritizing Local IT Businesses in State Tenders

Dr. K.L. Jain (President, RCCI) suggested that 20-30% of the state government tenders should be reserved for local IT businesses in Rajasthan. He emphasized that this step would significantly contribute to local business growth and the state’s economic development.

Establishment of Cyber and AI Labs

Dr. Tarun Taunk (CEO & Chief Editor, IT Voice) proposed setting up Cyber and AI Labs, which would not only enhance students’ skills but also provide startups and entrepreneurs with hands-on experience.

Policy Reforms to Attract Data Centers and Cloud Companies

Chandni Jagga (Chairperson, RCCI YWE, Additional Secretary, RCCI) highlighted the need for policy reforms to attract data centers and cloud companies to Rajasthan. She pointed out that high operational costs and outdated policies were driving companies to other states.

Financial Assistance for IT Service Industries

Lalit Chaudhary (President, JCTA) stressed the necessity of providing financial aid to IT service industries. He suggested implementing loan schemes based on GST filings and turnover to ensure adequate financial support for these industries.

Need for IT Clusters and Land Allocation

Pankaj Gupta (India MSME Chamber of Commerce and Industry) emphasized the requirement for IT clusters and land allocation in Rajasthan. He stated that structured IT clusters would streamline distribution, exports, and service industries, positioning Rajasthan as a strong IT hub.

Retaining Talent Through IT Parks

Dr. K.L. Jain and Lalit Chaudhary advocated for the establishment of IT parks in Rajasthan. They asserted that such parks would help retain talented professionals and position Rajasthan as a leading IT hub.

Improving IT Education System

Lalit Chaudhary recommended updating the IT education system to align with industry needs. He proposed incorporating practical skills and upskilling initiatives into academic curricula.

Bridging the Gap Between Industry and Education

Dinesh Chhabra (PRO, JCTA & Former Vice President, RCTA) stressed the need for better synergy between industry and education. He urged the creation of local opportunities for students to prevent talent migration.
