Druva Introduces Industry’s First Data Management-as-a-Service Solution

Druva, the global leader in cloud data protection and management, today announced Druva Cloud Platform, an industry-first as-a-Service solution that is redefining the cloud data protection market. Druva’s new platform provides a unified control plane for data management services across endpoint, server, and cloud application data. By centralizing the visibility and control over enterprise-wide data, Druva Cloud Platform can dramatically reduce data risks, as well as the costs of data protection by more than 60 percent.
“The acceleration of data growth and continued storage fragmentation, combined with surmounting pressures from malicious threats, loss, and corruption, and increasing regulatory requirements has raised stewardship complexity beyond reasonable cost and manageability. With this as a backdrop, global enterprises need a fresh approach to simplify the modern enterprise data strategy,” said Jaspreet Singh, Co-Founder and CEO of Druva. “The Druva Cloud Platform is designed to mitigate this complexity and cost by providing data protection, governance, and intelligence across the full data footprint of the enterprise – all delivered as a service, something organizations have been trying to achieve for years, but only truly possible with a cloud-native approach that delivers the elasticity and compute necessary to meet these needs.”

An Industry First: Cloud Data Protection and Management, Delivered as a Service
The as-a-Service model of the Druva Cloud Platform eliminates the need for ever-expanding, dedicated hardware and storage infrastructure that drive up total cost of ownership, and the associated software that must replicate data between systems to address discrete data challenges (e.g., backup, disaster recovery, compliance, eDiscovery, analytics). With server, endpoint, cloud workload, and application data uniquely optimized as a single, globally de-duplicated data set, and natively managed in the cloud, companies can achieve global visibility and policy management across all their data from a single control plane.

The Druva Cloud Platform is powered by unique cloud technologies that deliver accessibility and scale, including features such as time-indexed metadata, global scale-out de-duplication, auto-tiering, RESTful APIs for access and ecosystem integration, and highly elastic search and analytics capabilities. Additionally the new Druva Cloud Platform includes:

Single Management Control Plane: Brings together the management and orchestration of the entire data footprint of the organization for data protection, governance, and intelligence to ensure data is properly stewarded for recoverability, accessibility, compliance alignment, legal data response, and workload mobility regardless of the data primary source location.
Predictive Storage Engine: The new engine leverages heuristics and machine learning to optimize and auto-tune data protection policies, therefore breaking the traditional static approach of yesteryear. This new and unique model for machine learning results in significantly shorter backup windows and achieves much more efficient utilization of IT resources.
Unified Data Model: Druva’s new storage engine provides a unified data fabric across platform services, consistency of SLAs, and simplified data flow between services. Search, deletion, recovery, compliance monitoring, and more are applicable across the full data set versus the disparate, often proprietary, stored silos of information that organizations have grown accustomed.

Additionally, Druva Cloud Platform stores data in a security-first design that offers an unprecedented level of global regulation adherence, for standards like HIPAA, SOC-2, and at FedRAMP.

“As a key part of our nation’s critical infrastructure, meeting strict data protection and governance standards is a must as we adopt leading-edge cloud technologies,” said David Cordell, Chief Technology Officer, Port of New Orleans. “We trust Druva because the company’s unified approach has allowed us to modernize and consolidate our infrastructure to achieve better visibility, security, and control over our previously dispersed mission-critical data. We are excited about the new capabilities delivered by the Druva Cloud Platform and how they will help us continue to streamline data protection and security at one of the world’s busiest ports.”

“‘Hybrid’ is the new norm for most modern organizations, so modern data protection has to accommodate on-premises servers, remote endpoints, and cloud-based data sources,” says Jason Buffington, Principal Analyst at The Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG). “Druva has been an innovation leader in cloud-powered data protection for quite a while, so it should come as no surprise that they would raise the bar again. The amount of data that today’s organizations are dealing with continues to balloon, while everyone is feeling the pressure to govern and manage their data more effectively. The Druva Cloud Platform aims to do all of that and, as such, is something that many should take a careful look at.”
