Facebook Rolls Out ‘Donate Button’ For Quake-Hit Nepal
Facebook introduces ‘Donate’ button which will enable its users to make donation to International Medical Corps, a global organization. This feature is believed to make donating easier and safer. The button is visible right on top when you log into Facebook.
According to a post published on Facebook Newsroom, “International Medical Corps’ emergency response teams are operating mobile medical units to deliver critically needed medical care and medicines to the regions hardest-hit by the earthquake.” The team is giving out “hygiene kits, water purification tablets and other supplies to keep families healthy.
Facebook will match every dollar donated (upto $2 million) to the Nepal earthquake relief work. The options include Rs. 500, Rs. 1000, Rs. 2500 and Rs. 5000. Apparently, a person can also choose a higher amount.
The earthquake measuring 7.9 magnitude struck Nepal on Saturday (25 April), killing more than four thousand people, injuring many and leaving a pall of dust over the country. The death toll in the quake-hit Nepal is likely to rise as many remote villages are still trapped under the debris.
