Flipkart’s prices for mobiles & electronics lowest during festive sale
Flipkart had the lowest median prices across non-exclusive offers on mobile phones and other electronics on October 2 compared to other rival e-tailers, a report by Red Seer Consulting noted. Flipkart had the lowest median price at Rs 7,900 for mobiles against Rs 8,200 for Amazon and Snapdeal while large appliances and consumer electronics sold on the Bengaluru-based web retailer averaged at Rs 4,220, the report said.
Both Flipkart and Snapdeal started their annual sale events on Sunday while Amazon kicked off its flagship sale a day ahead. Mobile phones as a category has emerged as a top grossing one for e-commerce companies over the past few year and helped them shore up their gross merchandise value or GMV.
The report also showed that for consumer electronics and appliances, Snapdeal had the maximum (47%) number of listed SKUs and the lowest relative price among the three platforms, followed by Amazon (33%) and Flipkart (28%). However, it is worth noting that even if an SKU is priced just one rupee lower on a platform, it gets counted as the lowest priced SKU.
