Samsung is expected to release two new smartwatches later this year, namely the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5. These new smartwatches are anticipated to have improved health tracking features.
Recently, rumours have been circulating that the Galaxy Watch 6 will have better performance than its predecessors. It is said to be equipped with a more recent Exynos W980 chipset that will be over 10% faster than the Exynos W920 used in previous models.
While the CPU and GPU specifications of the Exynos W980 are not yet known, it is expected to be manufactured using Samsung’s more recent 5nm process, which could lead to a longer battery life.
Moreover, the Galaxy Watch 6 is rumoured to have a larger, higher-resolution screen and a slimmer rotating bezel, which will be reintroduced in the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. Both smartwatches are also expected to have batteries with slightly higher capacities than their predecessors.
Users can expect the Galaxy Watch 6 to have all of the features of the Galaxy Watch 5, such as ECG, GPS, heart-rate sensors, health and fitness tracking, sleep tracking, and body composition analysis, as well as Wi-Fi, cellular connectivity, NFC, wireless charging, and the One UI Watch software running on Wear OS. More details about the Exynos chipset are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
