TÜV Rheinland India, a subsidiary of TÜV Rheinland Group, Germany, a worldwide leader in Testing, Training, Inspection, Consulting & Certification, has announced that it has set up a unique state of the art Automotive Testing Lab at Bengaluru. The new testing lab, located in Electronic city, will test and evaluate the 2/3/4 wheelers along with their Electronic Sub-Assemblies (ESA).
India is an emerging market for manufacturers of automotive vehicles. Many of the giant automotive OEM’s have established their production plants along with their R&D centre in India. The new and unique TUV Rheinland automotive testing lab will play a significant role in facilitating the vehicle manufacturers and their vendors to test their products in order to continuously improve the quality as well as meet the local regulations as per AIS standards. They now not only can meet the local but also international standards such as in the European Union (EU) and many other international regulations which are specifically framed for Automotive OEM’s.
“The new lab with the state-of-the-art technology is one of its kind test setup. This lab is equipped with the latest technical devices such as the Absorber Lined Shielded Enclosure (ALSE) of 10 meter Anechoic Chamber, Automotive transient along with Transient emission stimulators which can be used to test electronic sub-assemblies as well as Battery/Hybrid vehicles,”said Mr Thomas Fuhrmann, CEO and Managing Director, TÜV Rheinland India.“We are extremely proud to boast that with this new and unique testing lab, TUV Rheinland will become the only international certification body in India offering Testing and Certification of Automotive vehicles and sub-systems.”
“The lab is indigenously designed, developed and commissioned under the technical expertise and guidance of an engineering team. The lab operates 24/ 7 to reduce the turnaround time required for testing which in turn aids to speed-up the time to market the newly developed or re-engineered products. This lab facilitates the Automotive vehicle manufacturers and its sub system suppliers to make use of it during product developmental phases in order to fix the engineering bugs and complying to the regulations. This model of association with TUV Rheinland right from the design phase till the product is completely compliant with the regulations, will help the Automotive manufacturers and their sub-system suppliers to deliver the product in line with the committed time schedule to their customers. We have an ample opportunity to serve the designers and manufacturers located in the Southern and Western part of India which is considered to be the hub for Automotive industry.” said Mr Kalyan Varma, Vice President, Products, TÜV Rheinland India.
“This facility has been accredited by NABL as per the IEC/ISO 17025 and has successfully executed Indian homologations for Vehicles and Electronic sub-assemblies in association with various national institutions apart from the day-to-day testing and certifications for International homologations. The laboratory is equipped with test instruments as per the latest EU standard ECE R10 Revision 5: 2014 for the additional requirements for vehicles and ESAs providing coupling systems for charging the REESS regarding the control of emissions and immunity from this connection between vehicle and power grid” said Mr Ravindra Kumar BS, Head – Automotive EMC Testing Team and the Laboratory, TÜV Rheinland India.
