Gionee is all set to launch its Marathon M5 smartphone in India. The Chinese smartphone maker has sent out invitations for the launch event which is scheduled to be held on November 24 in Bengaluru.
Unveiled at an event in Beijing in June, Gionee Marathon M5 has a 6,020 mAh battery that can last up to 4 days on a single charge. The company claims that the smartphone’s extreme mode enables it to deliver standby time of 62 hours with only 5% of charge. The handset can also be used to charge up to 2 devices simultaneously.
Gionee Marathon M5 has a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen with 720x1280p resolution, Android Lollipop operating system, 16GB internal storage, 2GB RAM, quad-core Mediatek MT6735 chipset, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera and 4G support.
The connectivity features in the phone include dual-band LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.
Gionee has started assembling smartphones at its Foxconn’s facility in Andhra Pradesh and is aiming to assemble around half-a-million phones from the facility by March next year.
Assembling imported semi-knocked down units in India is expected help Gionee save on higher duties as well as enable the company to introduce devices quickly at lower costs to consumers in the country.
