Google Workspace users have had the ability to add their work timings and locations to Google Calendar since 2021, but the options were limited. Users could only set a default work location or specify their location for a whole day or a range of days.
There was no option to indicate different locations at different times within a day. However, a new feature has been introduced to Calendar that allows users to define specific time windows for each location.
This feature is particularly useful for those with traveling jobs or teams working in different buildings within the same complex. It also benefits frequent travelers as it makes it easier for colleagues to know when they are available for in-person interactions.
This feature is especially relevant in the current hybrid work environment. Additionally, Google Calendar offers a simple way to set work location preferences to repeat at specific intervals. For example, if a user visits a client’s location every Tuesday afternoon, they only need to inform Google Calendar once.
