Google Doodle Celebrating Wilbur Scoville’s 151st birthday
Google today is celebrating the 151st birthday of Wilbur Scoville with an interactive Google Doodle. He was an American professor of pharmacology born on 22 January, 1865 and one of the first persons to mention milk as an antidote of pepper heat.
Google has created an interesting representation of the Scoville heat scale which was developed by the researcher himself. In 1912, Wilbur developed the scale in order to measure the hotness of chilli pepper and hot sauce. Before, this test no one knew how to measure the heat levels of pepper.
The doodle illustrates Wilbur Scoville holding pepper and Google is written using the various chilli peppers. There is a play button clicking on which will start the session allowing you to play a game to know the heat properties of various spices. The game starts with the tasting of bell peppers which further leads to an ice cream and pepper fight. Once the game is finished then the heat properties of the spice appears on the screen.
