Google has introduced new security features for Play Protect, strengthening defenses against malicious apps on Android devices. The latest update includes real-time protection, automatic permission revocation, and fraud prevention measures to enhance user security.
Stronger Protections Against Harmful Apps
With the update, Play Protect will now automatically revoke permissions for apps identified as potentially harmful, restricting their access to sensitive data such as storage, photos, and the camera. This ensures that apps no longer in use or flagged as risky cannot misuse permissions.
To combat social engineering scams, Play Protect scanning can no longer be disabled during phone or video calls, preventing fraudsters from tricking users into bypassing security settings.

Additionally, Google has introduced a “Verified” badge for VPN apps, ensuring that only those prioritizing user privacy receive official validation. This move aims to help users identify trusted VPN services and avoid fraudulent applications.
