Google Gives Up On Google+ As A Facebook Rival

Google had unveiled Google+ with an aim to create a big social network with more than a billion people keeping in touch with friends, updating their status and posting photos. Soon, a tough competition between Google+, Facebook and Twitter was witnessed. However, it seems that Google is no more interested in competing against its rivals.

Earlier, it was mandatory to have a Google+ account and profile to access other Google services which seemed irritating for most of the users. Hence, the firm has disclosed its plans to remove this feature.

YouTube is probably the first site where Google is eliminating the requirement of logging through Google+ account. As per the blog posted on the official site of Google, YouTube users have been told that they won’t need a Google+ account for creating channels and uploading videos.

Vic Gundotra, former head, Google+ reveals that Google+ had almost 300 million monthly active users in late 2013. At that time, Facebook had over one billion monthly active users which has now increased to 1.4 billion.
