Google has just confirmed the launch date of the next version of Android
It’s official, the next version of Google’s mobile operating system Android O is coming next week. Search giant Google has announced that it will reveal the name of the next Android OS and showcase some of its new features at an event on August 21 in New York. The company has also released a teaser video hinting at the name of Android O. In a post on its official page Google said, “Android O is touching down to Earth with the total solar eclipse, bringing some super (sweet) new powers! On August 21st, a solar eclipse will sweep across the entire United States for the first time since 1918. Android is helping you experience this historic natural phenomenon so you can learn more about the eclipse and count down to the big day—when you’ll meet the next release of Android and all of its super (sweet) new powers, revealed via live stream from New York City at 2:40PM ET.” According to a report by 9to5Google, the company posted the teaser video with the file name ‘GoogleOreo_Teaser’. However, it was later changed to Octopus and the company then deleted this file. Google announced the Android O at its annual developers event I/O in May this year. Android O will bring features like picture-in-picture, notifications dots, smart text selection and autofill. Presently, Android is compatible with Google Pixel, Google Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player and Pixel C tablet.
