Google is urging Google Pay users to discontinue the use of certain apps immediately

In response to the rising threat of online fraud and financial scams, Google Pay is cautioning users against using screen sharing apps during transactions. Despite employing advanced Artificial Intelligence and fraud prevention technology to identify suspicious transactions in real-time, scammers may still attempt to manipulate users, leading to potential financial losses.

Google Pay emphasizes its two-layer protection system, involving both the application’s unlocking and the subsequent use of a UPI PIN for transaction completion. While these security measures are robust, instances of suspicious activity may still occur.

To enhance user safety, Google Pay has provided guidelines, including protecting personal information, avoiding financial transactions while distracted, and refraining from sharing sensitive details on social media. As a precautionary measure, Google Pay advises against using screen sharing apps during transactions.

Although these apps have legitimate uses such as collaborative work or remote assistance, they pose risks when employed in financial transactions. Screen sharing apps can compromise the security of sensitive information, potentially capturing and transmitting confidential details like passwords or PINs.

Sharing screens during transactions may open avenues for unauthorized access, enabling malicious actors to exploit shared information for device control or take advantage of transaction vulnerabilities. Users are urged to exercise caution and adhere to these guidelines to minimize the risk of falling victim to scams or unauthorized access during financial transactions.
