It is expected that Google will unveil not one but two Nexus 5 smartphones in 2015. In line with previous reports, a picture of the version made by South Korean giant LG, has appeared online.
The picture featuring the back of the alleged LG made Nexus 5 was posted by an Indonesian user on Google+ and spotted by video blogger Marques Brownlee (also popularly known as MKBHD). In the picture, you see a white-coloured phone with Nexus branding, a protruding camera lens, dual LED flash, a laser focus lens and a finger print sensor. The phone appears to have a soft, plastic back panel with rounded corners and edges. In terms of size, it’s likely that it would fit a 5.2-inch panel, as rumoured.
Technology website GizmoChina had earlier reported that the LG-made Nexus 5 (2015) model will have a 5.2-inch P-OLED screen with Full HD (1080x1920p) resolution and will run on the upcoming Snapdragon 620 processor. It is said to have up to 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB eMMC 5.1 built-in storage. Its connectivity features will include Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and Wi-Fi, along with the Mediatek MT3188 charging receiver.
The report also claimed that the upcoming LG Nexus 5 smartphone will have a 13MP rear camera with IMX278 RGBW sensor, 6-element f/1.8 aperture lens, optical image stabilization, laser autofocus, and dual-tone LED flash. The front camera will have 4MP resolution and OV4682 RGB-IR sensor; it will also be among the few smartphones with Iris Detector (Fujitsu already has a phone with iris scanner in the market).
Other expected key features of the LG Nexus 5 (2015) include frontal stereo speakers, rear-placed power button with fingerprint sensor, and USB Type C connector with QuickCharge support. The smartphone is said to have a plastic back with matte finish and aluminium frame with chamfered edges.
According to the report, it will be priced between $300-400.
There were not as many details about the Google Nexus smartphone that Huawei is making. The report claims that the Huawei-made Nexus smartphone will have a 5.7-inch QHD (1440x2560p) screen, metal unibody design, 21MP rear camera with IMX230 sensor and Rezence/WiPower wireless charging.
It is expected that Google will take the covers off the two Nexus smartphones around October-November this year. The two Nexus phones will be the first to get Android M, the next version of Google’s free mobile OS.
