Google to bring tap-to-pay feature to Android Wear smartwatches soon

Search giant Google is all set to bring tap-to-pay to Android Wear as per a report by the Android Police. The technology portal discovered the feature during a tear down of the latest Google Play Services APK. It is expected that the feature will be rolled out next year with the launch of Android Wear 2.0.

If you have an Android wear smartwatch with the NFC chip, then you will be able to touch your watch to an NFC-enabled device in order to make payment. Along with this, the Android Wear will also be getting the Instant Apps feature. This will enable the user to find content from built-in apps including contacts, emails, text messages and photos and user-installed apps.

Earlier this year, a report surfaced online suggesting that Google is working on two new Android Wear watches with Google Assistant integration.

 These Android Wear smartwatches are expected to come with Nexus branding. According to the report, “One watch will be larger, sportier, and more fully-featured (LTE, GPS, heart rate), the other will be smaller and lack the aforementioned mobile data and GPS.”

The larger watch is likely to be called Angelfish and is expected to sport 43.5mm diameter and three buttons. The smaller watch is said to be called Swordfish and sport a diameter of 42mm.

 According to the report, the company is also said to be working on new watch faces, apps and other controls. It is not clear when Google plans to launch these watches and there is no update on the same from the company
