Government should step in to prevent Ask.me from shutting down: Subramanian Swamy
Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy has asked the ministry of corporate affairs to step in to stop search platform Askme.com from winding up its operations that will result in nearly 4,000 employees being rendered jobless. The e-commerce player is to shut down operations by August 31, citing lack of funds. Swamy, who was nominated to the Upper House by the BJP recently, has suggested that the government should assist Askme.com to buy out the 98.5% stake held by Astro Overseas. He has accused Astro of being involved in controversies including the Aircel-Maxis deal. .
