Elon Musk’s Grok AI chatbot is expanding beyond its native platforms, with Telegram being the first third-party app to support the AI tool. While WhatsApp has integrated Meta’s AI features, Telegram is now enhancing its appeal by introducing Grok AI. The update was confirmed through a post on X, which is also owned by Musk.
To access Grok AI on Telegram, users must subscribe to Telegram Premium, as the chatbot is not available for free-tier users. In India, Telegram Premium costs ₹179 per month or ₹2,399 annually.
Premium subscribers can use Grok AI for basic functions such as text-based image generation and answering queries. However, advanced features like Think and DeepSearch require using the standalone Grok app or accessing it through X. Telegram has also warned users about the presence of fake Grok AI bots and advised caution.
Earlier this week, Telegram announced that it had surpassed 1 billion users, with its founder Pavel Durov taking a jab at WhatsApp, calling it a “cheap and watered-down” version of Telegram. Meanwhile, Grok AI has also been upgraded with DeeperSearch and image editing features, expanding its capabilities further.
