Google Street View adds Warner Bros. Studio’s Diagon Alley for Harry Potter fans. Potter admirers can just click on their computer screens to visit the alley and get 360 degree views of the legendary street.
Google has added Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley in Warner Bros. Studios in London, U.K. on Google Maps. Now Harry Potter fans will be able to explore the famous alley in J.K. Rowling’s legendary Harry Potter series where wizards and witches get their magic supplies in Street View. Visitors can have 360-degree images of Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes joke shop, Ollivander’s Wand Shop and Mr. Mulpepper’s Apothecary.
Warner Bros. Studio Tour says that Diagon Alley set took over three months to build, and it took six months to create the 20,000 products that were put on the shops’ shelves. The company would love to showcase the alley for Harry Potter Fans. Google stated that this the first time the intricate set has been photographed. Potter fans who can’t go to the studio in London can just click on their computer screens to visit the alley.
However, this is not a first for Google, it has done similar Street View projects for Battleship Island, the Japanese destination in the latest James Bond movie ‘Skyfall’. Google had also collaborated with NFL’s Indianapolis Colts to get detailed images of ‘Lucas Oil Stadium’.
This is Google’s first addition to Google Maps after it announced that it will be rolling out a new version for desktop at its I/O developer conference. Google has also recently started its new Maps pilot program where it lets third party organizations use the Street View Trekker camera and contribute imagery to the service.
Google is working hard to reveal places of interest that most people wish to visit, but can’t. It has captured unique places like university campuses, UNESCO World Heritage sites, world landmarks, and even the Grand Canyon.
