Popular cross-platform instant messaging service Hike is back in the headlines. The home grown chat application lead by Kavin Mittal will soon include Hindi news from various sections like sports politics, technology and entertainment. The messenger already has an English News platform with almost 1.5 million daily users.
The English News platform was launched back in August. If reports are to be believed, almost 100 million stories are viewed every week by its users.
“We have carefully studied content consumption patterns of our user base and hike being an Indian app, we are happy that now our users can read news in Hindi. Users can switch between Hindi and English news by tapping a button. We believe this is a step forward as we embark on our journey to bring India online in a locally relevant way,” said Kavin Bharti Mittal, founder and chief executive officer, Hike Messenger.
Meanwhile, tech buffs are also speculating that the messaging service might also comprise regional languages in near future.
Founded by the Kavin Mittal, son of Bharti Enterprises chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal, Hike is a joint venture between Bharti Enterprises and Softbank. Launched on 12 December 2012, the messenger has already clocked in over 35 Million users.
