Smart City refers to the management of city resources, tackling challenges, and providing the best possible transportation, waste management, water supply, energy, and security in advanced technological places. It helps authorities control and administer the city to give citizens a better lifestyle, increase living efficiency, and promote sustainability through the use of data, technology, and digital solutions.
Smart City with ITMS and AI solution
An Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) solution uses advanced tracking, monitoring sensors, software, data analytics, and communication networks to improve traffic conditions, reduce congestion, and increase public safety. Traffic law enforcement and monitoring solutions offer a variety of real-time detection capabilities for offenses such as red light jumping, speeding, no helmet riding, triple riding, wrong lane movement, and other traffic crimes.
Contribution of Vehant Technologies in Smart City Projects
Vehant has already served over 70 cities with its artificial intelligence-driven traffic solutions, transforming the urban landscape by improving traffic conditions and reducing congestion. Their advanced software for addressing traffic issues directly not only improves traffic management but also allows for faster emergency service response times and reduces the likelihood of an accident occurring. With such sensible solutions being deployed across cities, citizens will be availing of a much-improved commuting experience.
Vehant began developing the ITMS much before the concept of smart cities emerged. They began working on AI-based solutions in 2010 and developed its first ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) software. The initial ANPR project was deployed in Jaipur, Surat and Ahmedabad, and then they deployed its ANPR in Mumbai surveillance as India’s first ANPR provider. After success in ANPR, Vehant got their first violation detection project for RLVD, Red Light Detection project from Ahmedabad.
The implementation of the Smart City Project in Agra, Ahmedabad, Delhi, and Prayagraj by Vehant Technologies
Agra, Uttar Pradesh– Agra has been declared Uttar Pradesh’s third smartest city by the India Smart City Conclave 2023. The ITMS systems, which include traffic enforcement systems at various places in Agra, have been enriched by 200+ AI-based software for challan generation. This real-time monitoring assists traffic enforcement and management of accident-prone roadways, with the goal of making Agra’s roads safer for people.
Ahmedabad, Gujarat- In 2024, Ahmedabad augmented its Artificial Intelligence based Traffic enforcement for comprehensive monitoring by municipal corporations and police. The SASA project will assist the city in detecting traffic violations and other unidentified activity. The Safe and Secure Ahmedabad program attempts to make the city’s roads safer. This initiative is a significant step toward a safer urban environment that includes 130 crossroads with designated lanes in Ahmedabad. The completion of Phase 1, which included the installation of 2000+ AI-based cameras for Red Light Violation Detection (RLVD) and ANPR systems, has established a solid foundation for the project’s future success. The next two stages of the project are now under process.
Delhi- On Delhi’s congested roads, where millions of people commute daily, specific laws and regulations are required to improve overall traffic safety. Recently, the Delhi government introduced approximately 1600 licenses of software for crime and criminal mapping across the city. These AI-enabled smart systems comprise 535 Automatic Number Plate Recognition along with Video Analytics for driver face detection, and Central Management Systems for 50 control rooms.
Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh- This year, the Uttar Pradesh government used artificial intelligence (AI) for the first time at the Magh Mela celebration to enhance the safety of devotees and pilgrims. The 54-day Magh Mela features high-tech security systems-enabled monitoring and crowd management technologies in place to assure pilgrim safety and security, as well as an enhanced pilgrim experience. These advanced real-time monitoring can not only help in crowd movement tracking but also help in planning and coordination of early detection of potential issues, access and exit points information, visitor counting, crowd flows within the venue, and other activities. Additionally, Vehant has helped to improve safety and streamline crowd control for the millions of guests at the Magh Mela, ensuring a safe environment while effectively handling the massive number of tourists. It is one of the largest festivals in the city and across India followed by Maha-Kumbh Mela.
