HP Delves into the Private Cloud Space

HP is increasing its focus into the private Cloud space with the introduction of its new solution — the HP Helion Rack. It is a new pre-configured, pre-tuned and pre-tested private cloud solution, based on OpenStack and Cloud Foundry technologies integrated with HP server hardware.
HP Helion Rack provides a complete private Cloud, with integrated Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) capabilities that support Cloud native applications. Some of its key features include easy scaling, open architecture, and workload flexibility.
According to HP, it aims to help enterprise IT departments speed their Cloud deployments. It also avoids months of designing, developing and deploying a private Cloud, by integrating Cloud management software and infrastructure.
HP Asia-Pacific and Japan Cloud division vice-president and general manager, Aman Dokania, said it embarked on such a solution as many enterprise IT departments currently face growing pressure to rapidly deliver flexible computing resources that meet their organisation’s demanding needs.
“However, they often lack the resources, infrastructure, skills or investment capacity needed to meet the challenge. This challenge is compounded with the growing recognition that IT must put developers first and offer simple access to a multi-language suite of tools that enable application development and deployment,” Dokania claimed.
As a result, Dokania indicated the HP Helion Rack offers HP partners the opportunity to differentiate themselves by meeting customer needs faster with a complete OpenStack technology private Cloud solution.
“Enterprise customers are asking for private Clouds that meet their security, reliability and performance requirements, while also providing the openness, flexibility and fast time-to-value they require.” As such, he added the solution provides a strong ecosystem for customers to leverage for support in onboarding Cloud services, scaling out the solution, and operating their Cloud solution.

HP Helion Rack is available in Australia but pricing varies by configuration.
