HP latest ultra-thin notebooks and a 2-in-1 convertible laptop-tablet hybrid in India

HP on Thursday launched its latest ultra-thin notebooks and a 2-in-1 convertible laptop-tablet hybrid in India, meant for enterprise customers.

The two new EliteBook ultra-thin notebooks dubbed the HP EliteBook 1020 and the HP EliteBook 1020 Special Edition (SE) were first launched in December last year. With prices starting from Rs. 95,000, the HP EliteBook 1020 and the HP EliteBook 1020 SE are now available for purchase in India.

HP claims that both the new EliteBook laptops share a tough, cutting-edge design, and use a magnesium-lithium alloy and a reusable carbon fibre material.

The design of the two EliteBooks is inspired by the Apple Macbook Air. In terms of thickness, both notebooks are just 15.7mm-thick, and for weight – the Elitebook Folio 1020 weighs up to 1.2kg, whereas the Elitebook Folio 1020 Special Edition is lighter of the two models at 1.029kg. The 2014 13-inch MacBook Air is 17mm-thick, and weighs 1.35kg.

Upfront, the HP EliteBook 1020 (optional touchscreen) features a 12.5-inch full-HD display whereas the HP EliteBook 1020 Special Edition packs a 12.5-inch Quad-HD display along with a 720p (HD) webcam, and front facing speakers featuring HD Audio with DTS Studio Sound.

Both the Elitebook Folio 1020 notebooks come with a choice of Intel Core M processors (Core M-5Y51 or Core M-5Y71) and 8GB of RAM, and SSD hard drive storage configuration options from 128GB to 256GB. Both machines are fanless for quieter operation, and HP claims that the battery is rated to deliver up to 9 hours of usage time.

Coming to the HP Elite x2 1011 G1, the convertible laptop-tablet hybrid is priced starting from Rs. 85,000, and comes with bundled with a Power Keyboard. The Windows 8.1 Pro detachable tablet features an 11.6-inch display and is available in two screen resolution models – 1366×768 pixels and 1920×1080 pixels.

It also offers the option of different Core M (Core M-5Y71, Core M-5Y51, Core M-5Y10c) processors including with base clocks ranging from 800MHz to 1.2GHz, and comes with 4GB or 8GB of RAM. The inbuilt storage on the device varies from 128GB to 512GB M.2 SSD, and 180GB to 256GB M.2 SE SSD.

The HP Elite x2 1011 G1 tablet sports a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front facing camera. It includes a Micro-SIM card slot, a microSD card slot and a smart card reader slot for Power Keyboard. The HP Elite x2 1011 G1’s tablet packs a two-cell 33 watt-hour Li-ion polymer battery, and keyboard has a six-cell 21 watt-hour Li-ion polymer battery.
