Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC will be cutting down its smartphones launches this year. The company, which launched almost a dozen smartphones last year, is now said to launch only half of it this year. As per a report on Engadget website HTC’s Chialin Chang, president of its smartphone and connected devices unit, himself made the revelation. He Chang says that launching limited number of handsets this year will make them focus more towards the handset’s ‘core features’. One of the core features introduced by the Taiwanese tech company is the HTC Sense Companion app. The app as per the company learns the user’s working patterns and optimises the device accordingly. The feature also keeps users updated with their daily routine, weather and more. The recently announced HTC U Play and the HTC U Ultra may be two of the six-seven handsets the company plans to launch this year. In addition, Chang said that users can expect HTC to launch some ‘Desire’ branded smartphones for ‘fun and affordable’ markets. When asked about the upcoming ‘HTC 11’ flagship smartphone, Chang dismissed the rumours and said that the device won’t be launched with that name. According to a report from Timesnews.com from last month, HTC 11 will bring back the dual-rear camera setup, which it introduced with the HTC One M8 (Eye). The handset is also said to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor built using 10nm process, along with the Adreno 540 GPU. Powering the device will be a massive 8GB RAM. As for the display, the HTC 11 might sport a 5.5-inch QHD (1440 x 2560 pixels) resolution LCD display. In addition to 256GB inbuilt storage, the smartphone will feature a 12MP rear dual camera along with an 8MP front-facing camera. The report adds that HTC 11 will feature a 3700mAh battery, which is 700mAh battery more as compared to the HTC 10. In addition, the device will support Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging technology.
