Huawei Enable AI and Hybrid Cloud Implementing Multi-Tenant Data Center Architecture Transformation
Huawei held its global Industrial Digital Transformation Conference. It was held via live streaming connecting guests from across the world including UK, Switzerland, USA, Germany and Italy with the theme “Hi, Intelligent World”. On July 27, the MTDC forum was broadcast online.
Data centers have gradually become the core of the ecosystem construction in the Internet service industry. As more and more customers choose the hybrid cloud strategy and raise higher expectations on deployment and O&M, the multi-tenant data center architecture transformation becomes the only way to ensure the agility of services in the Internet service industry and meet the SLA of customers in the digital era.
The forum discussed the development ecosystem and construction trend of the Internet service industry, proposed the new-generation multi-tenant data center architecture based on hybrid cloud and AI, and released the next-generation data center products FusionDC 2.0 and Brand-New 100 kW High Power Density UPS Power Module . Huawei will help data centers transform into the next golden age.
Deng Jiang, GM, ISP Global Business, Huawei
Deng Jiang, GM, ISP Global Business, Huawei, delivered a speech on the ecosystem and trend of the Internet industry. In the speech, he talked about the three industry trends of internet access all-optical, multi-cloud DC architecture, and service diversification, and the industry ecosystem that is transforming to multiple domains. Huawei provides various one-stop ICT solutions for customers in various segments of the Internet service industry, including the unified deployment and management solution for ISP customers, one-stop cloud DC construction solution for MTDC customers, flexible hybrid cloud deployment solution for MSP customers, and AI-inside storage, computing, and network products for OTT customers, facilitates agile service rollout.
From 2010 to 2019, the data center industry has experienced a decade of prosperity. With the rapid development of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, and 5G, data centers are entering the next golden era. The gradual failure of Moore’s Law provides great opportunities for computing architecture innovation. The fourth technical revolution driven by AI has arrived. Joy Huang, VP of Huawei Cloud & AI BG, delivered a keynote speech on “AI and hybrid cloud reshape multi-tenant data center architecture‘’. He proposed three trends in data center evolution in the digital economy era: computing architecture innovation, AI, and hybrid cloud.
The computing architecture is evolving from chip-level innovation to system-level innovation and then to data center-level innovation. Multiple service scenarios, such as big data, distributed storage, and databases, will benefit from the continuously optimized system architecture, greatly improving performance and efficiency. In addition, the continuous development of AI drives the evolution of data centers to the next phase. It is estimated that by 2025, the AI load in data centers will reach over 80%. More and more AI products are required to meet the increasing AI load requirements. With the continuous improvement of AI technologies, data centres will gradually evolve from single-domain digitalization (O&M, energy saving, and operation) to full-lifecycle digitalization (planning, construction, O&M, and optimization).
In addition, the hybrid cloud managed by service providers will become the choice for most enterprises. What customers need is “One Cloud Experience” from the users’ perspective. Such “One Cloud Experience” requires three unified capabilities: unified architecture and management, unified service and ecosystem and unified resources. Huawei is committed to building and providing such a hybrid cloud, and enabling cloud capabilities for cloud service providers and partners to help customers achieve digital transformation.
Data centers will gradually evolve from single-domain digitalization (O&M, energy saving, and operation) to full-lifecycle digitalization (planning, construction, O&M, and optimization) and automated driving.
SanJay Kumar Sainani, SVP & CTO of Huawei Global Data Center Facility Business, introduced Huawei’s next-generation data center solution. To address the pain points of long data center construction period, unpredictable return on investment (ROI), high O&M costs, and high energy consumption, Huawei officially launched its all-new UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) power module globally. The product enables the power density of a single module to reach 100 kW/3 U, twice that of industry standards. Huawei’s FusionPower2.0 data center power supply and distribution solution is based on the 100 kW module, and achieves the “1MW, 1 Rack ” (1 standard rack can support 1MW power)principle with a footprint that is more than halved, facilitating improved data center utilization and increased revenue. Besides, Huawei launches the FusionDC 2.0 which takes prefabricated modular technology to standardize and quicken the data center deployment. It also provides future-oriented and elastic architecture to help data center respond to power density evolution.
Maxim Kuschnerov, director of Huawei’s Optical Quantum Communications Lab, introduced Huawei’s high-speed data center interconnection solution in a keynote speech.
Huawei OptiXtrans DC908, a star product for data center interconnection, continuously innovates in capacity, supports single-wavelength 800G and flexible selection of 100G to 800G, and supports the future-oriented Super C+L technology to implement 220 wavelengths, meeting the challenges of digital peaks in the cloud era, help ISP customers build ultra-broadband data center interconnection, continuously reduce the cost per bit, and maximize the value of optical fibers.
The 2 U device supports a high integration of 12.8 Tbit/s and integrates the optical and electrical layers and five types of boards, saving device space and fiber connections. In addition, the network-level web GUI enables the entire network device to be managed without installation of the NMS. Technologies such as automatic fiber discovery and automatic commissioning are used to implement one-click deployment in minutes, achieving quick service deployment and agility. In addition, Huawei’s AI technology implements intelligent network O&M, detects whether the working fiber and protection fiber are in the same fiber/cable, and ensures that the working fiber and protection fiber are separated, greatly improving network availability.
In the 2019 Data Center Interconnection: Competitiveness Analysis and Evaluation Report released by GlobalData, an authoritative analyst organization, Huawei won the “Leader” honorary title for its first election. Huawei’s DC OptiX solution has helped global customers efficiently deploy their DC interconnection networks, enabling digital transformation in the industry. These customers include Internet OTT customers such as Baidu and Netherlands AM-SIX, etc.
The next era of data center transformation has come. Huawei continues to develop new-generation data center architectures and solutions based on AI and hybrid clouds, safeguarding the transformation and development of the multi-tenant data center service industry and creating a new brilliant intelligent world.
