Chinese smartphone maker Huawei has announced the launch of its mid-range smartphone P8 Lite (2017). The device, which appears to be a mid-range offering, is said to hit European regions first followed by others. Interestingly, the smartphone is an upgraded version of the company’s P9 Lite smartphone, launched in April 2016.
The dual-SIM supporting Huawei P8 Lite (2017) sports a 5.2-inch IPS display with full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) resolution display and is powered by an octa-core Kirin 655 chipset, clubbed with 3GB RAM and a Mali-T830MP2 GPU.
The smartphone comes with an inbuilt 16GB storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card. On the camera front, the device features a 12MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, along with an 8MP front-facing shooter. The P8 Lite (2017) is backed by a non-removable 3,000mAh battery.
Running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, the P8 Lite (2017) will be available in Europe priced at EUR 239 (roughly Rs 17,300), reports Mobilegeeks.de website. The handset will be available in Black, White and Gold colours.
Huawei, for now, is focussing on launching a range of devices at a pre-MWC (Mobile World Congress) event on February 26 this year. It has already sent out media invites and as per reports, Huawei Consumer Business Group’s CEO Richard Yu will be unveiling a ‘flagship’ smartphone at the event. This could be the P10 (and P10 Plus). If unveiled, it would be a surprise move by the smartphone-maker considering the fact that the P9 and P9 Plus were launched in June last year, much after the MWC tradeshow.
According to images leaked on Chinese social networking website Weibo, the P10 will feature a dual-curved display and a fingerprint sensor. The latter appears to be placed on the rear panel.
As far as specifications are concerned, the P10 will reportedly run on Android 7.0 out-of-the-box. It will also feature a 5.5-inch Quad HD 1440×2560 pixel resolution display. The smartphone is expected to be powered by Huawei’s HiSilicon chipset (probably Kirin 960) paired with a 6GB RAM. If true, P10 will be the first Huawei smartphone to have a 6GB RAM.
