Chinese smartphone maker Huawei has started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat update for its Honor 8 smartphone. The update weighs around 2.2GB in size and is being rolled out in several countries simultaneously.
The Android 7.0 Nougat update includes system-related optimizations, stability improvements and better app functionalities.
Along with Android 7.0, the update also packs in the latest EMUI 5.0 skin layer. It has a new colour scheme and a redesigned menu bar. Besides updated Quick Toggles in the notification shade, the new UI brings QR scanning functionality for active sharing, a new recent apps screen, split-view multitasking and an app drawer, among numerous other features.
For those unaware, Honor 8 was launched in India last year at a price tag of Rs 29,999. It flaunts a metal body design with a glass back and also has a fingerprint sensor. The handset features a 5.2-inch full HD 2.5D curved display of 1080×1920 pixel resolution. The screen comes with eye-care technology that reduces the background light to reduce strain on user’s eyes.
Powering the Honor 8 is an octa-core Kirin 950 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. It offers 32GB of onboard storage, expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card.
Huawei Honor 8 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system topped with EMUI. The hybrid dual-sim device boasts 12MP rear dual cameras with dual-tone LED flash and an 8MP front-shooter for selfies. Connectivity options of the device include 4G, LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and USB Type-C. The handset is backed by a 3,000mAh battery with fast-charging support.
