Huawei sold over 50,000 Honor 9 Lite units in 9 minutes, it claims
Huawei sub-brand Honor last week launched the Honor 9 Lite in India, which highlights a quad camera setup, Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and an 18:9 edge-to-edge display, among other things. At Rs 10,999 for the base variant and Rs 14,999 for the high-end model, the smartphone saw a fantastic response having sold out in 6 minutes in the first flash sale on January 21 at 12am on Flipkart and in 3 minutes during the second flash sale which took place later that day at 12pm. Huawei claims that the Honor 9 Lite sold at a blistering rate of 150 units per second during the sale. Based on this and the claim that the whole flash sale lasted for a total of 9 minutes, one assumes that Honor sold well over 50,000 units of the Honor 9 Lite, although the company has not provided an exact figure. With this response, Huawei says the Honor 9 Lite is the best selling product on Flipkart. “Honor 9 Lite, a Flipkart exclusive, was sold out within 6 minutes of the sale opening, selling at a bristling rate of over 150 units per second! In addition to this, it got stocked out in less than 3 min in the next flash sale. Setting a new milestone, Honor now enjoys a leading position among the best-selling brands on Flipkart. We hope to continue this momentum in the future sales for the device,” said Ayyappan Rajagopal, Senior Director. The Honor 9 Lite highlights a compact form factor that features glass on both sides. Its biggest USP, however, is that it comes with four cameras – two on the front and two on the back – with 13MP + 2MP configurations. Both the front and back cameras support bokeh shots and look to provide more detail and light with every photograph. The handset sports a 5.65-inch FullHD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It runs Android 8.0 Oreo with Honor’s custom EMUI 8.0 on top and houses a 3000mAh battery. Powering the Honor 9 Lite is an octa-core Kirin 659 processor paired with 3 or 4GB of RAM. It is offered with 32GB or 64GB of internal storage depending on the RAM option, and is expandable via microSD card. The Honor 9 Lite comes shortly after the launch of the Honor View 10 earlier this month, which is priced at Rs 29,999. Both the handsets have seen positive reviews and have been successful for the company coming into 2018.
