As part of the ‘ I Go Green for Sonata’ initiative, a CSR mission of Bengaluru based Sonata Software, 62 enthused Sonatians volunteered and planted saplings at its Global Village (GV) campus recently. In Phase- 1 employee participation was limited to Sonatians working in GV location which will be extended to other locations subsequently in 2016 with Phase – 2, 3 & 4 to follow, thus engaging Sonatians with creating awareness on importance of Going Green.
This ‘Grow Trees’ initiative spreads out over 4 weeks, as 50 (or more) Go Green volunteers each week will plant 1 sapling (per person) out of a variety of 15 saplings.
All participants reported on time and walked together to the plantation site. On reaching, they were briefed on the initiative by the Sonata leadership team. Their message to Sonatians was, “to leave a green footprint on Sonata’s campus and spread awareness on the necessity of a clean and sustainable environment.”
Sonata’s CSR aim is to fulfill the company’s commitment to promote environmental sustainability and maintain an ecological balance and create awareness on the importance of a green and healthy environment.
The event also entailed the distribution of Sonata branded merchandise to all Go Green Volunteers and enthusiasts who cared to make a difference and contribute towards fulfilling Sonata’s CSR commitment to promote Green environment within the campus.
Said Karthika Geetha, one of the Sonata volunteers “This is a very good initiative to make Corporates more responsible to know the importance of creating an eco-friendly work environment. This initiative helps the employees to engage in preserving and nurturing Mother Nature. We expect more such initiatives from Sonata in future. This tree plantation drive just reminded me of my old days where I used to plant trees in my school… good nostalgia.”
